Press Release
January 18, 2013
Hove, Belgium - Indie developer Koen Van den Heuvel today is pleased to announce Quest'n Go, his scavenger hunt app that leads players to explore the real world by creating and solving different quests. Players can seek out an interesting location in their own neighborhood, upload a picture, and develop a question about that location. A high quality, interactive map shows nearby quests, allowing players to solve other players' quests and give feedback. An alternative to tourist guides, Quest'n Go allows players to get outdoors and explore new places that may be off the beaten path.
Quest'n Go opens to a colorful, interactive map that is easy for players to navigate. Pushpins on the map indicate nearby quests. Purple pins indicate a quest that has not been visited, green pins indicate a quest that has been visited and solved correctly, and red pins indicate a quest that has been visited but solved incorrectly. Clicking on each pin provides players with detailed information about each quest, such as latitude and longitude of the location and player distance from the location in kilometers, allowing players to easily find each specific quest location. Each time players open the app, it automatically scans for nearby quests, ensuring that players will always have new places to adventure.
Quests often involve knowing specific information about a location, such as visible colors or details about nearby buildings. Although players can develop any type of question for a quest, players can only solve quests when they are at the location. In this way, Quest'n Go forces players to go out into their own neighborhoods to explore. Following completion of the quest, players can provide feedback on the quest in written comments as well as a "fun score." Once users rate a quest, they can upload their comments and "fun score" to Facebook and Twitter, allowing players to share enjoyable quests with friends.
Feature Highlights:
* Exciting scavenger hunt that leads players outdoors to explore their neighborhood as they try to solve each quest
* Interactive, colorful map shows players solved, failed, and unvisited quests
* Provide instant written feedback about a quest, as well as a "fun score," and share these ratings with friends via Facebook and Twitter
* Create quests and upload to Facebook and Twitter by posing an interesting question about a location, uploading a picture, and indicating the correct answer
* Quest log shows the other players' success at solving quest, as well as other players' ratings of quest
Aside from solving quests, players can also create their own quests. Players must give their quest a title, such as "The Black Castle" and ask an intriguing question about a location. Examples include, "When was the castle built?" and "This cannon was used as a knocking post for over 100 years. When was it dug up again?" The player must provide three possible answers, as well as indicate the correct answer. An accompanying picture of the quest gives players additional clues about the quest. Once players have created a quest, they can share with friends via Facebook or Twitter. The Quest Log feature also keeps track of the quests created, solved, and failed, allowing players to keep track of their own success as well as the success of their quests with other players.
"Quest'n Go is a fun scavenger hunt game played outdoors, in the real world," stated developer Koen van de Heuvel. "An enjoyable alternative to tourist information, Quest'n Go is an exciting and fun way to explore new places, as well as your own neighborhood, by creating and solving quests."
